hey y'all!

word to Bazaar for highlighting michelle obama's top ten looks of 2009. now, we know that she is not only an inspirational figure to young women and men all over the world, but she is a fashion icon in her own right. i thought that it would be only right that I pay homage to a fellow Capricorn (january babies are awesome) and show off some of my favorite looks worn by the first lady this year:

isn't she lovely? ;-)

rihanna's response: too little, too late?

so rihanna is finally breaking her silence about the abuse she experienced with ex-boyfriend chris brown. i'm gonna give my opinion in two perspectives:

from a public relations perspective:

i think that rihanna's PR team knows exactly what they are doing in terms of letting her finally tell her side of the story to 20/20, performing at the AMA in a few weeks, and other things - all the while with the release of a brand new album which has already leaked to several outlets. by her telling her story, of course she is overshadowing/competing with chris as he promotes his album and continues to try to clear his name, but it's sign that they are both moving on with their careers. in addition to her interview, i'm sure that rihanna's PR people are encouraging her to become an advocate for domestic abuse and as you see in the clip up there, she tries to spit one or two statistics. i must say, while her answers aren't rehearsed, her public speaking could use a little work. being that i'm a fly twenty-something, i understood all that she was saying in the interview, but others may not *i'm just saying*

from a personal perspective:

i respect the fact that she is finally stepping up and telling her side of the story, but i feel that it could have come a lot earlier. and as i stated before, her PR clique is damn good at what they do because she's getting even more press that is going to help her album rise to number one on the charts. now, she's been in the media hardcore for the past eight months, but for her to decide to talk NOW that her album is coming out in a few weeks, i think that is a little skeptical - but that's exactly how the business works. we have seen this situation time and time again with britney, whitney, and many other celebrities and as we know, any press is good press. i do agree with her on the fact that with the picture being leaked to the media, a lot of her privacy was taken away. but what i do respect her for saying is that she knew that it was a dumb mistake for her to crawl back to chris weeks after the incident had occured. as a woman, for her to blatantly make that statement and take full responsibility for her actions is commendable. domestic violence is something that can happen to anyone, and i wish that more women across this country and the world would stand up for it and talk about it.

i'm interested to see the rest of the interview and i will be tuned in tomorrow night, 10/9c on ABC *shameless plug for 20/20, huh?* ;-)

peace&love,

"...and she got a mean shoe game"

happy friday!

i can't believe october is over! fall is certainly here, and you know what that means...time to step up the wardrobe with warm and fuzzy fall fashions. one of my main priorities for this season is maintaining my shoe game. currently, i'm going through transition, but soon enough, i'm gonna be shuttin' it down up here on the hill.

i had to post this early AM because not only did this chick rock some bad @$$ fuchsia boots to the Yankees game last night, but her shoe game is always in check.

check out these ah-mazing shoes that alicia keys twit-pic'd yesterday. *oh-em-gee*

thanks to www.theybf.com for posting this awesome image of shoe loveliness. turns out that these are a pair of DSquared2 velvet and pearl sandals that run for $1092. i just need to know though - where i can cop me a pair a.keys *for cheap!?* holla at me girl...

peace, love & shoes!

**flyness alert! : raven symone

happy monday everyone!

i hope that everyone had a productive weekend. while i was occupied with chills and body aches saturday & sunday, i had the chance to get some well needed r&r and now my motor is up and running once again for this exciting week that lies ahead.

so as i was doing my rounds on my fave celeb blogs, i could help but go ga-ga over this dress that raven-symone wore to the United Nations event in New York City this weekend. She looked absolutely amazing in her aphrodite roland mouret dress. the retail value of this piece is $1,550.

The media has given her so much flack on being curvy in recent years, but i think that she is absolutely gorgeous in this piece.

my fashionistas, you can find this and other roland mouret dresses at your local neiman marcus, or online at www.neimanmarcus.com.

classy & sophisticated - that's SO raven. ;-)

**flyness alert! : jpk handbags

so while i was waltzing down marshall street today i decided to walk into j.michael's and see what window shopping i could take care of. shoes - cute; uggs - always fresh; but to feed my handbag fetish, i strolled into the vera bradley section and didn't see anything appetizing. and then, just as i was walking out of the store, there it was. this beautiful burnt orange hand bag that was just softly saying, "chas, pick me up. put me over your shoulder." of course, i listened, and then took a peek at that young price tag.

JPK handbags are totally inspired by their creator, Jean-Pierre Klifa and his creative ability to put together material, color and form. i had never heard of JPK handbags before today, but taking a look at the spring/summer collection from this year, i am totally sold. his handbag fashions have been featured in InStyle, Self, & People magazines. what captures my attention so much about these lovely bags is that they are so vibrant and colorful, while at the same time, very fashionable and can be worn all year round. with the variety of colors, you can rock the brown & burnt orange in the fall, and break out the bright pink and green for the spring time.

while at the moment it is a bit steep and out of my reach, i am HIGHLY certain that bad ass handbag will be traveling back to the chi with me come december. it will be my gift to myself after kicking butt this semester. jpk hangbags run about $165 - $245, and my fave style, sasha nylon, would be the most expensive * go figure * but j.michael breaks you off a little bit on that price.

check out their website and holler back.

(*baggatt - terra, $220)

(*bucket nylon maxi - hot pink, $187)

(*sasha nylon - burnt orange, $245)

so just pull the trigger : "russian roulette"

hello loves!

i hope that everyone has had a great week. so, if you haven't already heard it, i'm gonna talk about it because i think that this record is bananas - it's awfully deep too.

rihanna released the first single off her much anticipated album "rated r" that drops 11.23.09. now usually, i wouldn't be the hyped for a rihanna album, seeing as though i really wasn't a big fan of her when she came out back in 'o5, but ne-yo & chuck harmony produced the hell out of this joint and to them, i give madd props. people were saying that it has a demonic message, but honestly, i don't see anything demonic about this song. while the title may be disturbing to some, i think the song has a deeper message of how sometimes in life, we have to take risks and chances, hoping to God that when we "pull the trigger", a bullet is not released from that chamber.

i can't wait to see the style that rihanna is bring forth on this next album and i will be sure to review it once it comes out. seeing all that she's been through in the past eight months and how she hasn't said a word about the situation to the press, i think it was wise of her to let her music do the talking.

check out the song below & ri-ri, keep doin' ya thang mama.

**flyness alert! : melody ehsani

now rarely do i post twice in a day, but as i was doing my daily rounds on my fave blog sites (shout out to necolebitchie.com) i couldn't help but share with all my lady-rays of sunshyne this awesome new shoe & accessory designer.

her name is melody ehsani and her shoe game is disgusting *and i mean this in the utmost positive way.* i am a shoe FANATIC and the designs that this chick has are amazing. she also designs accessories like jewelry, and you can customize your own rings, necklaces and earrings *how sick is that?!* her style is very futuristic, yet very sheek & sexy. i would totally rock this babies to a schine party, look absolutely fab & not feel bad about it either.
